Reef Check/Introduction to Eco

Pre-Christmas, with everyone in Full Moon Party mode Crystal Dive and Eco Koh Tao teamed together for a big "Intro to Eco" day in Mae Haad. 15 Divemaster Trainees sat through an informative and educational talk by IDCS Nathan Cook about the importance and magic of coral reefs and their importance to our existence both now and in the future.

A big turnout for out Eco day!

The discussion went on to elaborate on ways divers and especially dive leaders can contribute to the conservation of the coral reef ecosystem. A detailed discussion of Reef Check and its importance in collecting data and recording and tracking changes was the central tenet of what we can do to help among a myriad of conservation projects current on Koh Tao.

In the afternoon participant joined certified Reef Check Ecodivers to conduct a Reef Check Survey of Mae Haad Reef. Our Reef Check surveys are also conducted in conjunction with the Save Koh Tao Groups Ecological Monitoring Program collecting data for our local conservation efforts as well.

Thank you to everyone who took part in a very successful day out.
