2nd consecutive Asia Pacific
award for Crystal Dive Resort!
In
April 2008 Crystal Dive Resort became the first dive center on Koh
Tao to win a major scuba diving industry award within the Asia Pacific
region when Platinum Course Director Matt Bolton received the ‘Diver
Training’ award from the PADI Asia Pacific Vice President
Henrick Nimb in Singapore.
The
Asia Pacific region is the second largest (after America’s)
within the scuba diving industry, and has some 1500 Dive Centers
and resorts.

Crystal
where also one of the two finalists in the Marine Environmental
& Instructor Development categories becoming the first Dive
Center EVER to make the finals in three separate categories! Fast
forward 13 months to May 2009 and incredibly Crystal have equaled
the feat achieved 12 months previous.
To
mark this historic occasion PADI decided to visit Koh Tao to make
the announcement and present the awards. A PADI delegation, headed
by PADI’s top executive, CEO Drew Richardson arrived this
morning.
Following
a luncheon Crystal Dive’s CEO Watcharin Fasiriporn, along
with Platinum Course Director Matt Bolton conducted a tour of the
facilities at Crystal Dive for the PADI contingent that also included
the Asia Pacific VP Henrik Nimb, IRRA Director John O’Brien
and Sales & Marketing Directors Mark Spiers & Danny Dwyer.
This also included a ‘sneak’ look at the new 68 room
hotel, due for opening in September.

Following
this Drew Richardson presented Khun Watcharin and Matt with the
2009 Asia Pacific ‘Diver Retention’ award. The award
recognizes ‘outstanding achievements in relationship to retaining
our customers and encouraging them to continue their dive education’.
A great one to get as it certainly tells us our customers are having
a great time when they are diving with us!

PADI
also presented Crystal Dive with the finalist awards for the ‘Marine
Environmental award, the second year in succession Crystal have
won this and the ‘Outstanding Dive Center & Resort Business’
award. Crystal
Dive now joins an exclusive group of Dive Centers in the Asia Pacific
region that have won two Asia Pacific awards, and is the only Dive
Center on Koh Tao to have achieved this status.
