Last IDC of the Decade!
With Crystal’s
own Platinum Course Director Matt Bolton conducting India’s
inaugural IDC, the last IDC of the ‘Noughties’ at Crystal
was conducted by Crystal’s 2nd Course Director, Justin Mayers.

All the prospective
Candidates have been produced through Crystal Dive’s Divemaster
Training Program and all have been employed within the industry
over the past 12 months so have gained plenty of vital experience.
Rob Brookes has
been an integral part of Crystal Dive’s Divemaster team now
for the past year, whist Hiroshi has been an underwater videographer
on Koh Tao for the past 18 months, working for Koh Tao’s Premier
Underwater Videography & Production company Deep Down Productions.

Vicky, Rob & Hiroshi with PADI Divemaster Kim Woodbridge
Vicky Ludlow
took some time off after completing her Divemaster course with Crystal,
but has returned to Koh Tao working as a Divemaster for several
of the islands dive centres.
Week 1 of the
IDC consists of an introduction to knowledge development presentations
in the classroom, Confined Water presentations in the Koh Tao Regal
Resort’s swimming pool and Open Water sessions in the tropical,
blue waters around Koh Tao.

All
the candidates demonstrated excellent control during Alternate Air-source
Skills, knot tying from the Adventures in Diving Search & Recovery
Dive and the ubiquitous CESA.
The guys also
have to show mastery of Rescue Exercise 7 – Unconscious diver
at the surface.
We had some time
left so we all had a short, Eco focussed dive site cleanup at Aow
Leuk and removed a large quantity of nets and discarded bags.
All the guys
passed the IDC with flying colours – Best of luck in the next
few days for the PADI Instructor Exam (IE).
