Koh Tao's Platinum CD Conducts Oman's First EVER IDC Program!
Once
again, our very own "Platinum" PADI Course Director Matt
Bolton has been globetrotting,
spreading the IDC gospel. Matt has just returned from Oman having
been invited to conduct the first ever IDC in the Middle Eastern
state.
Six-time
Platinum Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) course
director Matt Bolton conducted Oman’s first Instructor Development
Course (IDC) at Omanta Scuba Diving Academy last week. It will be
followed by the Instructor Exam (IE) on July 9 and 10 with examiners
coming in from the United Kingdom to test the newly trained diving
instructors.
PADI is
seen as the gold standard in professional diving and produces more
than half of all the professional divers in the world today. Mohammed
al Riyami, a consultant at Omanta Scuba, runs the academy with his
brother Said and they are excited about having a course director
of Bolton’s calibre in their midst.
"It is very
rarely that you get the opportunity to have someone so well respected
in the PADI community come and teach a course here in Muscat. I
am very proud that he is here at my academy," Mohammed
said. He hopes Bolton’s celebrity status in the diving circuit
will make the sport more appealing to prospective divers in Oman.
"Having
Matt here for this special course has not just been a highlight
of the course, it has also been a privilege for all of us here at
the Omanta Scuba Academy to have such a renowned diving personality
in our midst".
